I finally tried making an owl with the pattern that
limelady (Sewing Stars) posted on Craftster in this thread from the Japanese craft book ちりめんの手作り小物 (ISBN: 4-8347-6348-X). Thanks so much for posting it, Teresa, you are so helpful!
I think I misinterpreted the instructions a bit because I am just learning how to sew and do things like this so it was a bit difficult following the pictures. Even though I do know some Japanese and can probably translate what I don't in simple instructions like these, I couldn't really make out the kanji clearly from the scan. So that's why this little guy has turned out a bit shorter and fatter than the guys on the pattern, but I quite like it! I have worked out what I did wrong now so I know what I'm doing and more little owl friends should be along shortly. ^_^
